Director of Financial Reporting

The Director of Financial Reporting is a critical role that will drive the professionalization of the financial reporting team.  This role reports directly to the CFO, and will have broad responsibilities, which follow. This role will be responsible for attracting and retaining team members and driving high impact outcomes.  It is expected that the individual in this role build and maintain the trust of the executive team, external stakeholders (e.g., investors, lenders, auditors) and comport themselves with a high level of professionalism and integrity. Leading a high performing team requires coaching and mentorship.  To provide our junior staff with the largest opportunity to grow and develop, we expect that managers and leaders to be onsite and available for impromptu and ad hoc questions and meetings.   

 Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the financial reporting team;
• Oversee the production of external financial reporting (e.g., audited financial statements, tax returns, investor schedules, etc.);
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial reporting and asset safeguarding controls and guidelines;
• Maintain technical accounting policies and procedures, including the evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards;
• Implement consistent accounting practices and procedures;
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data used to make business decisions;
• Coordinate the activities of external auditors and tax preparers to ensure timely deliver of audit opinions and tax returns; and
• Oversee the technology the supports the financial reporting function (e.g., maintain the ledger).
